A small stone exits with urine without symptoms. But if the stone is more than 5 mm, it causes blockage in the urethra, resulting in symptoms like pain and vomiting. Various factors may increase the risk of developing these stones.
Most stones are formed due to a combination of genetics and environmental factors. Risk factors include high levels of calcium in urine, obesity, certain foods, certain medications, calcium supplements, gout, and lack of adequate fluids. The chemical uric acid, phosphorus, calcium, and oxalic acid present in urine together form stones.
Kidney stones are solid coagulation made of minerals and salt. Their measurement can be from small to large. It is found in the kidneys or in the urinary tract. The urethra consists of kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. It hurts too much. Types of kidney stones:
Calcium is essential for teeth and bones. The body’s natural system excretes all excess calcium in the body. When there is an excess of calcium or there is a hindrance in calcium metabolism, calcium combines with other waste products and forms stones. The most commonly occurring kidney stones are calcium phosphate and calcium oxalate stones.
Uric acid stone:
When the blood has abnormally high uric acid levels, it also begins to be excreted in large amounts in the urine and uric acid has a higher tendency to form stones. In others, diets rich in meat and fish, which are high in protein, contribute to high uric acid levels.
These stones are usually the result of severe urinary tract infections and occur after or during illness. This is because urine becomes alkaline in nature due to infection. As a result, magnesium ammonium phosphate is formed, which accumulates in the kidney in the form of stones. They have a tendency to increase in size very rapidly.
A hereditary condition called cystinuria is responsible for such stones. In this situation, amino acids, especially cysteine, begin to leak from the kidney and are passed into the urine, forming these stones.
