Gas Gangrene Symptoms and Causes

Gas Gangrene Symptoms and Causes

 What is gas gangrene?

The presence of gas in the muscles is called gas gangrene.  It is mostly seen after an accident where the muscles which do not have life and do not have blood flow show changes of gangrene due to the pressure of the gas formation.  In gas gangrene, some of the same changes of rotting in the wound are seen when a corpse is dead after dying.  The more the wound is stained with soil and cracked, the greater the chance of gas gangrene infection.

 Causes of gas gangrene:

Gas can be gangrene mainly due to two bacteria.

 1 -Claustridium welchii –

It destroys glucose and produces carbon dioxide and hydrogen gas.

 2 – Claustridium sperogens –

It destroys proteins and forms hydrogen disulfide and hydrogen gas.

These bacteria live only where there is no oxygen, such as a deep wound that has a torn muscle, and where there is no blood, it is an ideal place to grow these bacteria.  The gas formed fills the muscular membrane and dispenses blood vessels.  Due to this, the blood that reaches those parts is reduced further.  This causes a toxin and the disease spreads.  Bacteria make toxins in the body which destroy the surrounding tissue.

 Symptoms of gas gangrene

Initially, there is pain and the affected area becomes numb.

There is swelling around the wound.

It hurts very seriously.  It is also important to keep in mind that this disease can occur in such a wound.  A patient who is covered with plaster should never underestimate the pain of a plaster patient as this pain may be a symptom of pressure or gas gangrene.

The skin around the wound becomes yellow and fluid accumulates under it.

Dirty-smelling water comes out of the wound.

This lesion, which is green or black, often has a rat-like odor.

The presence of gas in the muscles suppresses the sound.  She sometimes comes out of the wound in the form of a gas bubble.

 Blood pressure decreases.

The heartbeat increases and the patient has a mild fever.

 Sometimes vomiting occurs.

 The patient may experience diarrhea.

The patient goes into a coma.

Sometimes vaginal hysterectomy occurs when there is a wrongful abortion or if the contaminated instrument is used during the delivery.  This causes bacteria to enter the blood to form toxins.  These toxins destroy the granules found in the blood.  Due to this jaundice occurs, blood starts coming in urine and kidneys stop working.
