Viral Fever – Symptoms and Causes

  What is viral fever?

Viral fever is usually caused by an airborne viral infection, although it can also be caused by a waterborne infection.  Measures can be taken to prevent waterborne infections, but the air we breathe is far less effective to prevent the spread of infection.  Increased body temperature is the main feature of viral fever.  Viral fever is quite common in children and the elderly, as their immune system is weak.  Viral fever causes anxiety in very few cases and in most cases it is cured without any special treatment.

 Causes of viral fever:

Viral fever spreads easily from person to person.  Another person can also become infected with viral fever when exposed to fluids from the infected person’s body.  When an infected person sneezes or coughs, fine droplets of fluid from his body get into the air and through the breath, those droplets get into your body.  Once the virus enters your body, it takes up to 16 to 24 hours to spread throughout the body and causes acute infection with fever.

Viral fever also spreads through mosquito bites.
